Survey on Adopt South West Newsletter and Social Media Content for 2025
The Adopt South West managers and media team were eager to hear your thoughts on what you would find most useful in our newsletter and on our social media channels. We asked you what currently interests you and what you would like to see in future issues and posts.
Survey overview:
Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent survey. Here are the key themes and suggestions we received:
Content preferences:
- Many of you appreciated the links to articles.
- There was a strong interest in seeing events and courses on offer.
- Support for birth parents and information on contact letters were highlighted as important. Some suggested including birth parents’ stories to humanise their experiences.
- Information about support sessions and training available, along with links and signposting to other useful organisations and support, was felt useful.
- A focus on specific topics, such as FASD, ADHD, and Virtual School, was appreciated and suggested for future issues.
Process information:
- Clear information on processes, such as accessing the adoption and special guardianship support fund (ASGSF) and what it can support, was requested.
- Information about what needs to be done after the Adoption Order is granted, such as NHS records changes, changing the child’s name with other organisations, and the process for second-time adopters, was highlighted as a need.
Format and accessibility:
- Many of you asked for a shorter, themed newsletter to make it more enticing and easier to navigate.
- Some feedback indicated that the current format feels repetitive.
- Suggestions to make the newsletter more eye-catching with a different layout and including links to more activities in areas.
- Suggestions included to understand if an adopter network for local families to foster connections, arrange lift shares, and enhance event participation could be explored.
- The newsletter should be mobile-friendly, as most people read emails on their mobile devices.
- Content should be less location-specific to cater to those living on the outskirts of our regional area
Additional support:
- Information on identifying underdevelopment and support options.
- Contacts for identifying a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) child and ways for recognition by the NHS.
- More information for new adoptive parents.
- Information about support available and what’s happening in your area, including meet-ups.
We appreciate your valuable feedback and are committed to making our newsletter and social media content more relevant and engaging for you. Your input helps us better serve our community.
Thank you for your continued support.
