Amelia and Kai’s journey: support and confidence
“As our journey continues in family finding, we feel very confident in how far we have come. We have confidence in the training we received and the support from everyone at Adopt South West.”
Ameila and Kai are adopting in 2025 and share their adoption journey:
From the moment we enquired, we felt fully supported by Adopt South West (ASW). We were able to ask any questions, check in, and talk things over whenever needed. Our assessing social worker at ASW, Helen, was amazing throughout our sessions, always detailed and ensured we were comfortable. She provided us with endless support and checked in on us most days.
Our birth son looked forward to hearing from Helen and was always keen to spend time with her. She made him feel confident to be himself and truly express his views and feelings in his ‘About Me’ workbook.
Our social worker’s warmth and compassion were unwavering, and we couldn’t have wished for someone better to guide us through our Prospective Adopter’s Report (PAR).
Although we were sad that Helen couldn’t continue with us through our adoption journey, the transition to our current social worker, was seamless. Just as Helen had assured us, we felt that our new social worker knew us just as well as she did.
As our journey continues in family finding, we feel very confident in how far we have come. We have confidence in the training we received and the support from everyone at ASW.”
At Adopt South West, we support adopters, children and families throughout the adoption process and beyond – our support doesn’t just stop when the adoption order is granted; adoptive families can approach us at any time. Support and advice for as long as needed
