Gaming and gambling awareness and harm prevention workshops

The digital world offers incredible opportunities for young people, and over 90% of children play video games. But this can create risks that often exist out of adult sight. Features like loot boxes, endless scrolling, and social pressure can sometimes lead to harmful gaming habits.

The charity Ygam are holding online workshops to help adoptive parents and adoption teams have proactive conversations about gaming and gambling with their children and young people, and to recognise any signs of harm to ensure early intervention.

This two hour session helps adoptive parents and adoption teams gain a deeper understanding of how gaming and gambling can affect children, especially those with trauma backgrounds who may be more susceptible to addictive behaviours or escapism.

There are three dates and times to pick from.

All sessions are delivered online via Microsoft Teams.

This workshop is fully funded and free to access. Upon completion, attendees will understand:

  • Why children might game/ or gamble and the additional vulnerabilities faced by children who have experienced early life trauma
  • The blurred lines between gaming and gambling
  • The potential risks and signs of gaming and gambling harm
  • Support and signposting options.

Ygam are a UK based charity with a mission to protect children and young people from gaming and gambling harms.
