Spotlight on: internet security – chronological age verses developmental age
Many children who have developmental trauma or complex needs do not have the emotional development to meet their peers who are chronologically the same age. This also includes scaffolding support with the level of content they are viewing technology where there are added things to consider at home.
There are many options and products that restrict or allow parents to manage this, where you can select a preferred age range for content, this might be a ‘developmental age’ rather than a ‘chronological age’.
Many parents find Google Family Link a very useful app to manage devices – there is a range of features such as restricting content, approving or disapproving apps, setting screen time and more.
