There are still some spaces available for young people aged 13-16 who maybe interested, at the barn outside Plymouth.
Adopt South West and local adoption agency, Families For Children, have come together to create a youth group for adopted teenagers between the ages of 13 to 16 years old. We have recognised that for many adopted teens, they experience feelings of isolation and differences from their peers, something we would like to support to change through the youth group.
The purpose of this youth group is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where young people can come together, experience new activities and have the opportunity to make friends, who will all share similar experiences.
There will be lots of different activities such as forestry, woodwork, survival skills (such as cooking outside), arts, crafts and in the warmer months the opportunity to go paddle boarding. We are taking referrals on an individual basis and we can have a group of up to 10 young people. The group will take place on a Thursday after school from 4.00pm to 6.00pm and transport is available from a pick up point to the barn.
If you would like to speak to a member of staff about the youth group, please contact Emily Parker from Adopt South West on 01392 381960 or Jon White from Families for Children (manager of the barn) on 01364 209067.
