Are you searching for the long-term solution to bring peace and harmony back to your family?

We are offering a nine-week course, From Hostility to Harmony – Changing A Child’s Challenging Behaviour, to start you on your journey to improving your child’s behaviour.

If you’re experiencing any of the following behaviours from your child, then the course will help:

  • reactive – with angry outbursts where things can get thrown or broken
  • demanding – they call the shots and dictates terms
  • controlling – you feel like a puppet with your child pulling the strings
  • manipulative – they twist what you say and out argue you
  • aggression or violence towards you, siblings, pets and your home
  • threatening – to you and themselves e.g. they will run away
  • defiance and opposition – they simply will not listen to the rules and your “no” triggers anger from them
  • sense of entitlement – they treat you like their servant and expect money and things on tap
  • extreme sibling rivalry and possible violence, manipulation and coercion.

Following principles from a parenting intervention called Non-Violent Resistance, combined with other disciplines, you will learn to:

  • de-escalate conflict during emotionally charged incidents
  • break the ‘seal of silence’, overcome your isolation and develop support networks within your community
  • raise your authority
  • enhance your relationship through reconciliation gestures, repair and relationship-based play
  • develop reflective forms of communication and non-verbal communication.

The nine week programme includes:

  • watching the e-course for 60 to 90 minutes each week
  • joining the weekly group mentoring on Zoom for one hour,  starting on Monday 20 October 2025 between 12.30pm and 1.30pm
  • having three one hour family one-to-one online mentoring sessions at a time that suits you.

Your trainer will be Gill Tree, who is a fellow adopter and was the keynote speaker at Adopt South West’s annual adopters conference in 2022. You can read more about Gill’s background here or by watching this nine minute video by her.

You can also try a free version of the e-course at the Adoption Academy website.
