SUMMARY:Therapeutic Parenting: April to July online course with Joy Gamble
DESCRIPTION:For approved adopters and adopters coming through for approval\
 nThis is a 10-week virtual course facilitated by Joy Gamble\, a Specialis
 t Psychologist (Attachment and Trauma) and Dyadic Developmental Practice P
 ractitioner.\n\n 	Thursday 18 April until Thursday 4 July 2024  (with a b
 reak for May half-term). 9.30am-12.30pm\n 	Week 1 - 18 AprilWeek 2 - 25 Ap
 ril\n\nWeek 3 - 2 May\n\nWeek 4 - 9 May\n\nWeek 5 - 16 May\n\n(Two week br
 eak)\n\nWeek 6 - 6 June\n\nWeek 7 - 13 June\n\nWeek 8 - 20 June\n\nWeek 9 
 – 27 June\n\nWeek 10 - 4 July\n\nThis model of therapeutic parenting is 
 well established and we always receive fantastic feedback from parents.\n\
 nThe course is divided into three modules\, with module one helping parent
 s to develop their understanding of attachment as well as their child’s 
 behaviour and their own. Module 2\, focuses on the importance of creating 
 a safe base for children\, with module three focusing on parenting with PA
 CE and how to respond to behaviours as a therapeutic parent.\nAims of the 
 course:\n\n 	To help adoptive parents understand how early trauma and disr
 upted attachments affect the child’s developmental process.\n 	To help a
 doptive parents reflect on how the child’s early history is enacted in t
 he here and now and to increase their understanding of the meaning behind 
 behaviours.\n 	To enable adoptive parents to implement a therapeutic paren
 ting approach to improve attunement and attachment.\n 	To reflect on the c
 hild’s specific attachment difficulties and what this means for their pa
 renting and their family life in general.\n 	To enable parents to build co
 nfidence in using PACE by creating opportunities to practice therapeutic p
 arenting in a supportive group environment.\n 	To enable adoptive parents 
 to reflect on their own attachment histories and how these impact their ow
 n parenting.\n 	To promote self-care and self-reflection for parents.\n\nF
